1. What assignment is worth 30% of your grade?

Both Quizzes and the Language Development Paper (including drafts) are each worth 30% of your final grade.

2. What letter grade is an 88%?

An 88% earns a B+.

3. What must you do in class to earn all 5 course engagement points?

  • Come to class prepared with required materials.
  • Engage in active listening when others are speaking.
  • Listen to and consider other viewpoints.
  • Participate respectfully in small and large group discussions/activities.
  • Share ideas and ask questions.
  • Avoid monopolizing class discussions.

4. How many quizzes are there?

There are 4 online quizzes (Quiz 1 through Quiz 4).

5. True or False: Late assignments will be accepted as long as you communicate with the professor before the assignment is due.

True. Students seeking extensions must do so in writing via email before the assignment is due. (Late assignments will still be penalized by a minimum of 10%).

6. True or False: You will learn to create a lesson plan in this course?

True. Candidates will create a Connecting Language and Literacy Lesson plan.

7. What types of questions should you expect on the quizzes?

They consist mostly of short answer/open response questions, but may also contain multiple choice, true/false, and matching questions.

8. True or False: In order to pass this course, you must complete the 35 hours of infant/toddler field experience (or secure the appropriate waiver).

False. There is no mention of a 35-hour infant/toddler field experience requirement anywhere in this syllabus.

9. Quiz 3 covers which chapters of the text?

Quiz 3 covers Chapters 6–9 of the Otto (2018) textbook.

10. How should you proceed if you have special needs that would benefit from an accommodation?
